The Accounting Packages: BASIC, COMPREHENSIVE, and MANAGED
BASIC
The Basic Package is designed for what we in the accounting world call cash basis reporting. Simply put, cash in is either income, investment, or loan proceeds, and cash out represents either expenses or debt payments. It does not account for sales made for which money has not yet been received (accounts receivable,) or for bills that have not yet been paid (accounts payable.) So, at the end of each monthly process, your books will reflect your business activity on a cash basis.
COMPREHENSIVE
The Comprehensive Package goes a considerable step beyond the Basic Package in that it considers all your sales activity (whether the money is received or not) and all of the expenses that have been incurred (whether paid for or not.) In addition, when money is received it is matched to the corresponding sale, thereby managing the accounts receivable (you will get a list of open invoices every month.) When the bills are paid, the payments are matched to the open bills, thereby managing the accounts payable (you will get a list of unpaid bills every month). An additional benefit of this method is that sales can be better categorized so that detailed reports can be produced by customer, service, and even quantity of products. (The package is not designed for retail businesses, but it does allow for some product sales.) So, at the end of each monthly process your books will reflect all of your business activity, giving you a much more complete picture.
MANAGED
The Managed Package incorporates everything in the Comprehensive Package, adding another level of services. Primarily, it provides for a greater quantity of service (more transactions, more credit cards, more consulting,) and weekly service rather than monthly. It also adds online bill pay (we pay your bills from your bank account with your approval,) and invoicing services (we produce and deliver your sales invoices based on your proofing.) This package is right for business owners who need a virtual office for their accounting needs.
Accounting & Corporate Setup Packages
The Accounting Setup Package includes the setup of the general ledger accounts, and their balances, customized to your company’s particular needs. Catch-up work is not considered a part of accounting setup, but is addressed in the details of the accounting packages. Likewise, existing payrolls must also be setup within the parameters of the accounting packages. Certain materials specified in the setup package are necessary tools to get the job accomplished.
The Corporate Setup Package is an optional service for Virginia-based businesses. The process includes the filing of the Articles of Incorporation, the acquisition of a federal identification number, making the S-election (when applicable), and providing the corporate book. The incorporation service is entirely optional, and is not a prerequisite to any of the three accounting packages.
